How To Stay Cool In 100+Degree Heat

A primer by Jack Reid.... For those of us on the East Coast, July has been BRUTAL. It has been over 100 degrees for at least 7 days and setting records all over the place. When we can't escape to the beach to cool off, Jack has had a few ideas of his own....

Hey, I got my new shoes on.....

...and everything is FUN!! (one of mommy's favorite songs is "New Shoes" by Paolo Nutini so forgive the slight singing). Jack sported his new tennies and loved playing in them all day. I even snuck into his bedroom to catch him playing at his table and just having a blast. He loved the noise his new shoes made on our floors.

Later that day we went to the playground and he had fun with the noise of the sand and his shoes. It is so fun watching him grow up!

Crab Night at the Beach!

When we're at the beach we love to go out for steamed crabs "family style". Last week we tried a new place across the street from our house...The Crab Bag (around 130th street on the Bay). It's great for families as we sat out in a big sand "beach" with picnic tables. I could have the stroller for Ciara and Jack could run free as 2 year olds like to do:) Jack also got a mallet smashing lesson from Grandpop. Plus, the crabs were DELICIOUS! Two thumbs up!

As Promised...the "beachy" pics

A few of our fun days at the beach last week:) We had great weather!

Ciara's first nap in her crib (6 weeks old)

Today Ciara is 6 weeks old! I can hardly believe 6 weeks ago I was in labor at this point:) She is getting big and starting ....mind you, barely...to develop some sleep patterns. It is mainly my fault as I am much more "clingy" with Ciara and have kept her in my room longer. Today I decided to try "nap time" (hahahaha, I laugh aloud at that notion) in her nursery and crib and so far...as I type...she has slept for 30 minutes in her crib! Could this be the start of a routine???

Northside Park

Besides the beach/pool....Jack's favorite place is the PARK. We are lucky to have a great park right across the street from us at the beach - Northside Park. Doodles loves the park too...it is a Reid family classic!

Jack got much more adventurous with the tunnel slides and other tunnels...he also discovered that it was way cooler to crawl back up the slide once you slide down rather than climb those pesky stairs. Thanks big kids ;)
