Ohhhh, Sugar, Sugar

I have to say that I've really enjoyed being pregnant....I know alot of people who have had a worse time of it, so I feel lucky. The saga of the poison ivy though, does continue:)

They are treating the reaction with some pretty hefty steroids...for the next 8 weeks (well 6+ weeks I guess now). Because they are so strong (but no worries about the baby) , they tend to cause my sugar levels to rise. We need to keep them under control so little Tater Tot isn't born with super high sugars. Right now we're monitoring levels and deciding if we need to do insulin shots or oral tablets. So far, things are "ok" - sometimes super high, but mornings are usually low.

Again, NOTHING tragic or even remotely dangerous - just an update and all worth it to have a safe Tater Tot here in a few weeks. I just have to curb my late night ice cream cravings:)

Baby Shower Fun!

My mom, sister and great friends threw a wonderful shower last weekend. It was perfect and a wonderful day. I've included pics to show how much fun everyone had. We had a cookout, with games like sack races and water balloon toss and even swimming in the pool. I am so grateful for my friend Beth's brother and sister in law who let us totally over take their great home/yard for the day. The weather, food, entertainment - everything was great. And I was even comfortable enough to show my "face" as I recover from the poison ivy.

You'll notice some bandages in some of the pics, but I look and feel 100% better. Of course we got great presents like a Terp car seat and "Tater Tot" onesie - but the real joy came from just having everyone around us to celebrate our new little one:) Hugs and kisses to all.

PS - the "blue" team won all the outdoor games so apparently that means a baby boy is on the way!

Recovering

For those that haven't heard, the mommy-to-be is slowly recovering from a bad case of poison ivy from the 4th of July weekend. After a trip to the hospital and many rounds of medicine, she is slowly getting back to herself. Thanks to EVERYONE for their care and concern. I would post pictures of the "before" and "after" but, really, let's keep this blog as clean as possible....plus who knows who is eating their breakfast out there.

I'll be on steroids for the next 8 weeks which poses no risk to baby Tater Tot, even through the delivery date - so all is well;)

Hope everyone has a great week!

A little late...Key West

There is a new thing these days called "babymoons"....similar to a honeymoon, but couples take a little vacation before the first baby comes. There last slice of paradise as a couple:) Michael and I went to Key West, FL at the end of May and had a fabulous time doing nothing but relaxing. During those 3 am feedings, we will have some great memories to look back on!

Angelina Jolie????

We had our 32 week ultrasound this morning and things look great. Tater Tot is weighing in at 4 pounds and 13 ounces which is in the 67% for size. She is no longer breech (yeah!) and "very active" as the doctor pointed out to me (really....I could have told you that;)

The most curious part of the morning was trying to figure out where in the world this little baby got those luscious lips.....

Who is this "Doodles" character

For those who don't know - Doodles is our precious pooch (see pic to the right). We have had her for about a year and will always be our first "child". She is part Schnauzer and part Poodle.

If you've met Doodles the Schnoodle, you know she is lovable and has a very gregarious personality. She loves everyone and people end up loving her! Believe it or not, she even has her own wikipedia page that's how popular this little dog is!(thanks Jason!)

The renovations begin!

In an effort to prepare for our Tater Tot at the end of August, we are hard at work in getting the house and - obviously - the nursery all ready. I'm not too stressed - if things stay on schedule we still have about 6-8 weeks. The men (Michael, Yaphet, Jason and Mike's Dad) worked hard this past weekend stripping carpet and laying down new hardwood floors on our second floor.

They made real progress - and the nursery floor and hallway are complete! With the holiday weekend, the plan is to try to finish the rest of the second floor. And then we start the painting:) Fun stuff I tell ya! See before and after pics and I'll try to keep pics updated as we complete more!
